    Appointment System

The Practice has adopted a system to ensure that patients can be seen within 24/48 hours. This means that the majority of routine appointments are booked on the day. There is still the facility to pre-book a number of appointments. For urgent appointment requests, the receptionist will ask for some details and an appointment to be seen that day will be made as appropriate. This may be with a doctor other than your own. Sometimes, due to holidays or other commitments, a routine appointment with your own doctor may not always be available within the desired time.

    Routine Appointments

We have a mixture of "on the day” appointments in the morning and "pre-booked" appointments in the afternoon We will attempt to book your appointment with the doctor of your choice but if they are not available you will be offered an appointment with another doctor. The receptionist will try to accommodate your preferred appointment time but this may not always be possible.

    Medical Emergencies

A request for an urgent consultation is a problem that cannot wait until the next routine appointment. If you feel your request is a medical emergency then an appointment will be made with an available doctor. This consultation may be at either North End or Steeple Claydon surgery.

    Telephone Consultations

These appointments can be booked on the day and in advance. You may request the doctor of your choice, regardless of which surgery they are at. When making the appointment the receptionist will request some brief details and the doctor will call you back.

    Cancellations

If you have booked an appointment and then find you cannot keep it, please let us know as soon as possible.

    Doctor's Request

If the doctor requests that you make a follow up appointment, this should be a pre-booked appointment. Please make the appointment before you leave the surgery.

    Late arrivals

It is important that you arrive for your appointment on time, as late arrival causes additional waiting time for others. If you arrive more than ten minutes late you will be asked to rebook your appointment for another time.

    Messages and Information

If you have some medical information which you would like to inform the doctor about, and you feel you do not need to see them, please let reception know and the information will be passed on to the doctor.

    Test Results

When a test or investigation is undertaken in the surgery, you will be told approximately how long it will be before the result is available. After this time we would ask you to contact the surgery and a receptionist will inform you of the result. We are not permitted to give the results of tests to anyone other than the patient, except by prior arrangement. Please ring after 10am in the morning. If you do not understand your result, please ask to make an appointment to speak to or see your doctor.
